Foreign Rescue Dog TrainingHelping your foreign rescue feel safe, happy, and understood
Is Life With Your Rescue Dog Not What You Expected?
Adopting a foreign rescue is an act of love – but sometimes love isn’t enough on its own.
Your dog might:
- Cower behind the sofa and refuse to come out
- Bark at certain family members (men especially) or even snap
- Freeze on walks, or lunge at every person or dog they see
- Panic in the car, leaving you feeling stuck at home
- Refuse to even leave the house, or won’t move once outside
- Struggle to toilet outside or in your own garden
- Seem constantly on edge, searching for a way to escape
I know all this because I’ve lived it. It’s exhausting, stressful, and not at all the cosy picture you imagined when you adopted them.
You may even feel a pang of regret – though you’d hate to admit it – because instead of joy, it feels like hard work.
Your rescue dog isn’t “broken.”
They just need more time, patience, and a plan designed for dogs like them. When you begin to understand your dog more clearly, you can help them feel safe enough to trust.
The techniques I use to help rescue dogs and their people are hugely successful and tried and tested with thousands of dogs – not just my own.

How it Works
This programme will give you the skills and knowledge you need to create a happy life for both you and your dog. Every programme is completely bespoke, but always built on three pillars:
1. Safety first
We’ll reduce fear and stress so your dog feels safe in their world—and in yours.
2. Building trust
Through gentle games and clear communication, you’ll develop a real bond that makes life together easier and more joyful.
3. Supporting progress
Once your dog is ready, we’ll gradually introduce skills to help them cope with everyday life – whether that’s a calm walk, a relaxed home, or simply feeling comfortable in their own skin.
